Galaxy History The Galaxy contains billions of stars, forming a brilliant pinwheel disk more than 100,000 light-years in diameter. From the beginning its inhabitants looked up at these twin-kling pints of lights and dreamed. The earliest space ships could hardly escape their own star systems, but the miraculous discovery of the faster then-light dimension know as hyperspace ushered in a new age of discovery and exploration The first galactic scouts struck out from the Core worlds along two stable hyperspace paths- the preliminary Trade Route and the Corellian Run. These twin hyperlanes outlined a vast wedge-shaped region of space that was soon dubbed "the Slice" though it contains many of the oldest and best know planets, the Slice encompasses only a fraction of the know galaxy. For ease if classification, Old Republican cartographers divided the galaxy into regions, sectors, and systems. Regions are the largest divisional grouping. Regions average greatly in size and location, from small pockets of space such as the Centrality to the vast expanses such as the Outer Rim Territories Sector are subdivision of regions. The original definition of a sector was any area of space with fifty inhabited planets, but increased exploration has caused many sectors to grow far beyond there original boundaries. Systems consist of individual stars and there orbiting planets. Some system have many live -bearing planets, some have none, while other contain only drifting asteroids or comets. Only a fraction of those planets can sustain life. Despite this any galactic atlas will readily list over a million inhabited worlds and thousands of intelligent alien species. Along with some major area there will be a few planet that fall into each area listed Deep Core The Deep Core is the densely packed mass of stars lying at the very heart of the galaxy. since the gravitational pull of it myriad suns snarls the fabric of hyberspace, the region was long thought to be impenetrable Emperor Palpatine, however, discovered several safe hyperlanes into the protected region, and it remained a stubborn Imperial stronghold for nearly two decades after the Battle of Endor. The star systems with in the Deep Core are some-times called the Core Systems. Planets: Byss, Khomm Koornacht Cluster The Koornacht Clusssster, a luminous disk of blazing stars and interstellar gas, sits in the Farlaz sector near the fringes of the Deep Core. It was Imperial territory from the End of ht Clone Wars until soon after the Battle of Endor, when the alien Yevetha successfully hijacked the Empire's retreating Black Fleet armada. Twelve years later the Yevethans rabidly annihilated all "foreign" colonies inside th Cluster's borders, forcing the New Republican to retaliate. Planets: Galantos, J't'ptan, and N'zoth Core Worlds The ancient region bordering the Deep Core contains the most prestigious and densely-populated planets int he galaxy. There are, of course, exceptions, like the seedy Abregada-rae, but most of the Core Worlds are universally revered. The Old Repbulica was born in the Core Worlds and spread out from there to settle other distant str systems. A bastion of Imperial support, the Core Worlds were finally liberated by the new Repbulic approximately three years after Endor. But an Imperial resurgence led y palpatine Clone forced the Alliance to withdraw temporarily and the Rebels ahd to capture the Core Worlds a second time. Planets: Abregado-rae Alderaan, Chandrilla, Coruscant, Kaut, Ralltiir Corellian Sector Situated with in the Core Worlds, this legendary area contains the five worlds of the Corellian system and dozen of other neighboring systems know as the Outliers. Formerly ruled by the Corellian Diktat, the sector became increasingly her-metric during the Empire's rule. Fourteen year after the Battle of Endor, the Sacorrian Triad attempted to use the Starbuster weapon to bully the New Republican into recognize the Corellian sector as an independent state, Duro sits at the edge of the sector, though it is not considered an Outlier system. Planets Corellia, Drall, Duro, Sacorria, Selonia Talus and Tralus The Colonies The First Old Republic explorers and settlers to leave the core Worlds colonized this adjacent region, which they named the Colonies. Over the millennia many of these planets became just as industrialized and wealth as there old-world counterparts, though the antiquated term "colonies" has stuck. The new republic picked undeveloped planets in the colonies region to use as steeping-stone for the first Core World invasion Planets; Arkania, Balmorra, Borleias (Blackmoon), Carida, Talasea, Teyr Tapani Sector The Tapani Sector is located in the Colonies, but by tradition is it is considered a respected part of the Core Worlds, community. Elite and ancient noble houses rule much of the sector, though border planets called the Freeworlds are slowly encroaching on the house held territory Planets Fondor and Mrisst Inner Rim Planets The diverse region features many agricultrual and industrial power house. The inner RIm was finally freed by the new Republic Five year after the Battle of Endor-just in time for Grand Admiral Thrawn to sweep in and recapture the territory. Though Thrawn was defeated, many innner rim planets resent the New Repbulican for it failure to protect them. Planets Ambria, Antar Four, Atzerri, Bestine, Bilbringi, Carratos, Myrkr, Onderon, Taanab, Telti, and Thyferra Hapes Consortium A fabulously wealthy cluster of the sixty-three inhabited planets, the Hapes Consortium has become synonymous with fierce protectionism and zealously guarded borders. Though very few had ever seen the cluster's worlds, rumors abounded of astounding treasure such as rainbow gems, wisdom trees, and mid-controlling weaponry, Left largely to it own devices during the Emperor Palaptine's reign the Consortium broke its millennia-long isolation when Hapan Queen Mother unexpectedly contacted Prince Leia Organa of the new Republic Planet Hapes Expansion Region The Expansion Region began as an experiment in corporate-controlled space-wealthy conglomerates were allowed to profit from the area's planets as they saw fit. Eventually the ruling companies moved on to exploit the Corporate Sector. The expansion region is still a producer of raw materials, metals, and ores, though many of its resource have been exhausted. Planets Aquaris, Aridus, M'haeli, Mimban, Nkllon, Tynna Centrality The Centrality is an old-fashioned, regressive corner of space best know for the Oseon casinos and the life-crystals of the Rafa system. The Centrality swore allegiance to Palpatine soon after the Empire's formation. its puppet government was allowed a certain degree of autonomy, though this was mostly because Imperial forces had little interest in directly contorlling the trivaial region. Planet Rafa V Mid Rim With a smaller population and fewer natural resources than man other regions, the Mid Rim is a territory where residents work hard for what they have. Several planets have built up impressive economies, while pirate raiding fleets often hide in the unexplored spaces far from the trade lanes. Planets: Ando, Delsavis, Bimmisaari, Bothawui, Garos IV, Ithor, Kalarba, Kashyyyk, Kothlis, Ord Mantell, Rodia, Umgul, Vortex Huttt Space A lawless expanse near the Outer Rim Territories, Hutt Space is controlled by the most corrupt and powerful Hutt clans. The region is infamous throughout the galaxy for its widespread smuggling, piracy, and open criminal activity. Imperial authorities largely left the Hutts to t heir own devices, in part because many influential citizens (including Black Sun's Prince Xuzor) had a covert stake in their illegal commerce. Planets Da Soocha V, Nal Hutta and Nar Shadddaa Tion Hegemony Once the seat of power for the pre-Republic conqueror Xim the Despot, the Tion Hegemony is now a crumbling backwater whose glory days are long past, it sits in an undistinguished area boarded by the Croese Mandate and the Allied Tion. Planet Dellalt Meridian Sector The Meridian sector is a lightly populated region near the Outer Rim Territories. The New Republic has several bases in the sector, but mostly of the planets remains neutral despite the close proximity of the Imperially held Antemeridian sector. Nine years after the Battle of Endor a devastating outbreak of the Death Seed plague raced across three-quarters of the sector and killed millions Planets Nam Chorios and Nim Drovis Outer Rim Territories The Outer Rim is the last widely settled expanse before one reaches Wild Space and the Unknown Regions. An incredibly vast region of space, it is strewn with obscure alien homeworlds and rugged, primitive frontiers planets. As a result of it distance from the Core, the area was a hotbed of support for the Rebel Alliance. Grand Moff Tarkin was given the formidable task of bringing the Outer Rim into line. Planets: Agamar, Alzoc III, Anoth, Bakura, Barab I, Bespin, Dagobah, Dantooine, Dathomir, Endor, Eriadu, Firrerre, Gamorr, Hongoghr, Hoth, Kessel, Korriban, Mon Calamari, Munto Codru, Osssus, Pzob, Roon, Ryltoh, Sullust, Tatooine, Vergesso, Asteroids, Wayland, Yavin 4, Yavin 8 and Zhar Corporate Sector Located at the wispy edge of one galactic arm, the Corporate Sector is a free-enterprise fief that contains no native intelligent species. Despite its considerable distance from the Core Worlds, the sector is easy to get to, thanks to several well-established hyperspace routes. The ruthless Corporate Sector Authority (CSA) was given a free hand in governing it territory by the Empire as long as Emperor Palpatine received regular kick-backs. The CSA was interested in prifit, not ideology, and commonly sold weapons to both sides during the frequently Imperial-New Republic Skirmishes. Planets: Ammuud, Bonadan, Etti IV, and Mytus VII Wild Space The frontiier of the galaxy, WIld SPace is the ragged fringe separating civilization fro the Unknow Regions. Planets such as Almania lies so far from the galatice centers of power that they are virtually ignored, Planets: Almania and Pydyr Unknown Regions Even after twenty-five millennia of interstellar travel, much of the galaxy remains unexplored. Scouting missions were drastically curtailed during the height of the Empire, though Grand Admiral Thrawn spent several years mapping portions of the Unknown Regions. Recent attacks by unfamiliar foes such as the Ssi-ruuvi Imperium have helped convince that further exploration of this area is a military necessity. Planet Lwhekk
